Way of Abel Background/History:
Way of Abel was a hard rock band comprised of members who were undoubtedly been brought together by God. The band existed in various forms from 1996-2003. The last 2-3 years were years of solidification and personal growth for each band member. In our individual ways we experienced many things in life, in God, in our families, and our friendship. The last year for the band was one of opportunity in terms of being able to do what we had a passion for; playing live, playing hard, playing loud, and playing music to bring praise and honor to our God. We hoped to inspire those who listen to our music to seek God in more real and personal way for their lives, as well as simply have fun, enjoy music, and the wonderful things we have been given.
Lead Vocals: Brian
West
Brian lives in Lansing,
MI with his wife, two children, and dog, Lewis. He is a Professional Mason
by trade. He has an incredible, powerful voice with excellent tonal range,
lively stage presence and huge heart for God. Brian has sang for a great
number of years. This has included other rock bands, worship leader, and
soloist. We are blessed by his giving nature.
Drums: Jack Gildea
The beat producer;
Jack “the animal” Gildea hails from South Bend, IN and is currently
employed at Gates Toyota. Before that he was one of the top sales associates
in the percussion division at one of the Nations largest distributor of
musical merchandise, The Woodwind and Brasswind. Jack’s extensive
knowledge of drums as well as musical
history and artists is unreal. His experience is enormous with his many,
many associations and involvement in stage and recording projects over the
last 20 years. Jack has an explosive personality and excitable nature, as
well as a great love for the things of God. A great friend, band
mate, and brother in the Lord.
Lead/Rhythm Guitar: Don Zuker
Don resides in Mt.
Pleasant, MI along with his wife and two children. He works in the environmental
service dept. at a local college and has also recently completed his training
as a Guitar Technician; recently graduating from an accredited private school
of Luthiery, (he knows how to build and fix guitars!) Don is a phenomenal
guitarist with many years of experience. Don has played with different bands
and worship bands over the years as well. His involvement with the band is
paramount, while co writing and arranging many of the songs; he brings a
well-defined edge to our sound! Don is a great friend and serious believer.
He is about as real as it gets.
Lead/Rhythm Guitar: Dave Costa
Dave lives in Lansing,
MI along with his wife and three children. He is an x-ray Tech. by trade
and is employed by a local hospital. Dave is also the
Children’s Minister at his church: Meridian Christian Church. Dave
is an excellent guitarist who writes and co writes the original music for
the band. He has many years of experience playing live as well as being involved
in 3 recording projects over the years. He loves God and seeks to be a servant
for the Lord.
Bass Guitar/Vocals: Doug Southworth
Doug is from South
Bend, IN where he and his new bride Jenny live. Doug is a computer designer
and consultant by trade. He is an incredible asset to the band, with his
many years of experience and awesome musicianship. Doug plays many instruments
and is a very talented vocalist as well. He has a great personality and a
great stage presence. His commitment to the things of God is an encouragement
to all of us. We were truly fortunate to have him involved in Way of Abel!
